Scholarships & Grants

College grants and scholarships are available to many college students. Scholarships and grants come in many forms including: Federal and state government, private universities and colleges, public and private agencies, businesses, and corporations.

Grants and scholarships typically have eligibility requirements so make sure that you qualify for the scholarship or grant before you take the time to apply. When you do, you will want to make sure you follow their application process carefully. Insure that you meet ALL eligibility requirements, and read the fine print. Most importantly use proper spelling and grammar when completing your application, and take the time to have two or more teachers review the application and any essays you have written. Ask them to review specifically for spelling and grammar as well as content.

If letters of reference are required, make certain you select individuals that carry weight in their title. Also make certain it is someone you know well enough to trust that their reference will be nothing less than an excellent representation of who you are and what you have achieved.

Scholarships.com and CollegeGrants.org are two of several sites available to research various awards that are available to you. The time to start looking for scholarships and grants is long before high school graduation. While there are online resources, your best resource is your school counselor.
