Fayetteville State University (FSU) is a comprehensive educational setting providing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. The university’s student enrollment was nearly 5800 (graduate and undergraduate combined) for the Fall 2010 semester. Leading degree programs include, but are not limited to, health careers, teacher education, business, economics, as well as the arts and sciences. Newer undergraduate degrees include biotechnology, forensic science, management information systems, and nursing.
FSU is actually the second oldest educational institution in the North Carolina University System. It was formed in 1867 and has distinguished itself as a diverse campus and educational setting. Presently, there is a $45.5 million campus renovation campaign underway at FSU which will allow the university to grow considerably and to serve more students.
Of particular note is the excellent FSU faculty to student ratio of 1 to 19 which allows superior instruction and more personalized education than is generally found on the larger campuses of 20,000 students plus. FSU sports are a leading outlet for students with Fayetteville State having won championships in golf and tennis in recent years. The Broncos make NCAA Division II sports something to get excited about at FSU.
